SVA MFA Designer As Author: Student Coursework

MFA Designer as Author courses cover a wide range of media, but ideas are the key concern. Here students show their wares on a variety of platforms, each built on a narrative that makes the work more than a simple solution to a design problem.

Dance Power Electric is a performance ensemble dedicated to inspiring a switch to wind power. Please call your local electric company to find out how easy it is to switch your home to wind power today. 

In Good Hands is a line of scarves that is an inexpensive alternative to an expensive problem. They are for people who are unable to afford health insurance. They create comfort and security in an affordable way. They help ease the pain of five common ailments: alzheimer's disease, asthma, arthritis, migraines and epilepsy. 

Pomp & Consequence is a satirical line of military medals meant to address the government's neglect of the psychological toll this war has taken on both veterans and the public at large. Post Traumatic Stress Disorder has significant effects on soldiers upon their arrival home, such as irritability, depression, alcohol abuse, violence and domestic abuse, and suicide. On the reverse side of each medal is a "treatment" for each side effect of PTSD.
